FLOOD VULNERABILITY ANALYSIS IN JIPIJAPA CANTON, MANABÍ, ECUADOR: INTEGRATION OF GIS DATA

This study analyzes flood vulnerability in the Jipijapa canton, Manabí province, Ecuador, using Geographic Information System (GIS) tools. By integrating vector, raster, and topographic data, critical areas with high risk levels and dense populations were identified, such as the Montecristi – La Cadena and Jipijapa – Noboa roads. Thematic maps were generated to prioritize structural and non-structural interventions. The results emphasize the need to implement early warning systems, improve drainage infrastructure, and foster community participation. This approach highlights the utility of GIS for land-use planning and risk management, contributing to mitigating the impacts of future extreme weather events.
