Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming civil engineering by optimizing processes, reducing costs, and improving sustainability. This article aimed to evaluate the impact of AI on infrastructure projects, identifying its main applications, benefits, and barriers. The methodology included a systematic literature review, case study analysis, and simulations to compare traditional approaches with AI-based techniques. Data were collected from secondary sources and real projects, processed using statistical tools and advanced algorithms. The results show that AI enables cost reductions of 25%, waste decreases of 18%, and time savings of 40% in project execution. However, challenges such as system interoperability and data quality limit its adoption. Despite these barriers, AI demonstrates significant potential in sustainable construction and project management. The conclusions emphasize the need for ethical regulatory frameworks, professional training, and the integration of hybrid models that combine AI with traditional approaches. These measures are essential to maximize technological benefits and foster a more efficient and sustainable industry.
