Abstract

Fabril S.A is a company that manufactures, markets and exports oilseed products, hygiene and personal care products in the form of articles for mass consumption and ingredients for industrial use. Within the processes of this company we are going to focus on one of them. The process to be optimized is "Olein oil exports", since the average number of tank cars exported per week is 10 units. During the filling process, a measuring tape is used to control the filling and ensure that the amount of product does not exceed the limits established by customers, national and international laws. This means that there are many reprocesses and loss of time, since the personnel in charge have many errors during filling, when this happens the export process cannot continue (a bottleneck is created), therefore, new activities are carried out to correct the weight. In this way, the restriction affects the entire supply chain by losing time, money, resources, since the bottleneck affects the preparation and distribution of the final product. Based on this analysis, an improvement proposal is made, where the Olein export process will be optimized through Business Case and the implementation of an automated flow meter that allows the fillings to be more exact with a maximum variation of 0, 1%, thus eliminating downtime, reprocessing, and optimizing resources.
